Our plain and flavoured crackers range includes Country Cheese, Cheds, SAO, Sesame Wheat, Water Cracker varieties, and Cheeseboard Assortment.
We use flour and wheatmeal milled from wheat sourced across Australia, including the Darling Downs, Liverpool Plains, the Riverina and South Australia.
We use a blend of locally grown, non-genetically modified canola oil, together with 100% certified sustainable palm oil from Malaysia.
Arnott’s ANZ and our supplier are active members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). All palm oil in our vegetable oil blend is sourced from the Malaysian Peninsular, from land which is specifically used to produce palm oil. It is not an area experiencing deforestation and no orangutans are found in the wild on this peninsular.
All Cheds and Country Cheese crackers are made with real cheddar cheese, with additional Pecorino cheese used for a fuller flavour in Cheds. Our cheese is sourced locally from Australia and New Zealand.
Ingredients for Flavour
Whether mixed in before baking or sprinkled on top of the cracker, we use naturally dried sea salt in all our plain and flavoured crackers.
A small amount of cane sugar is added to Sao and Sesame Wheat to help with baking and flavour. This cane sugar is sourced from Queensland.
Dry spice powders, such as mustard and paprika, are sourced internationally from countries including Spain and Canada.
Sesame seeds add flavour to Sesame Water Cracker and Sesame Wheat. They are grown in Africa.
Australian poppy seeds are added to Water Cracker Cracked Pepper for their nutty flavour, complementing the cracked black pepper imported from India.
Oats in Sesame Wheat are grown in Australia.
Malt extract is made from barley and has an appearance similar to honey. It helps with baking and flavour.
Yeast extract is similar to a commercial yeast spread. A small portion of Australian made yeast extract is present in Cheds and Country Cheese for flavour purposes.
Flavours & Flavour Enhancers
Plain crackers, such as SAO and Water Crackers, do not contain added flavours. However, cheese crackers and Harvest Wheat contain a small amount of flavouring:
1)- Natural flavours, extracted or derived from natural sources, such as plants, dairy and other proteins.
2)- Artificial flavours, made from highly purified organic chemicals carefully blended by expert flavourists.
While most crackers do not contain flavour enhancer E621, also known as monosodium glutamate (MSG), it is present in Harvest Wheat crackers in the Cheeseboard Assortment.
Ingredients for Texture
Is used to leaven SAO and Cheds. Our yeast is sourced from China.
Baking Soda or Raising Agent 3500
When mixed with dough, baking allows our crackers to rise and become light and crispy in texture.
Antioxidants: E307B and E304
Antioxidants are used in small amounts to help maintain the freshness of biscuits and other foods.
Antioxidant E307B is a type of Vitamin E, also known as mixed tocopherol. It is derived from non-genetically modified soybean oil. Antioxidant E304, also known as ascorbyl palmitate, is made from vitamin C and palm oil.
Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin
This is used to help blend ingredients together. Lecithin, also known as E322, is a natural ingredient derived from non-genetically modified soybeans.
Ingredients for Colour
While most crackers do not contain colours, Country Cheese contains the natural colours:
1)- Annatto E160b – A natural colour made from the seed of the achiote plant.
2)- Beta carotene E160a – A natural pigment found in many grains, plants, vegetables and fruits.

Our cardboard cartons are made of 99.6% recycled material and are fully recyclable. Our plastic wrapping is not suitable for household recycling bins. To recycle, we recommend using REDCycle collection bins at selected Coles and Woolworths stores.
